Welcome to my blog

Tea seems like such a welcoming topic to introduce myself and my blog. If you were visiting me in my home, I would invite you to join me for a lovely cuppa. Nothing quite settles me into my thoughts like a hot cup of home-brewed tea. I love to start my morning with at least one. Whenever I can’t seem to focus on a task at hand, or feel a chill coming on, or am just plain indecisive but need to make a choice, I put the kettle over for tea.

I first enjoyed real tea-parties back in the 1950’s with my great-grandmother from England, and I came to think of sweet tea with milk as a cure for practically anything that ails me. That reminds me of an old saying that went something like this: “In time of troubles, drink tea.”

My sweetener of choice is Stevia, but honey is another favorite. I prefer to save my calories for a side treat, like a scone or fruit-filled pastry.

Tea fads come and go but in our home, we have an assortment of greens, blacks, and blends that suit nearly any mood: smoky for those cold days when something more substantial is in order, spicy to jazz up a blah afternoon, green to clear one’s mind, and so forth. I could go on about tea but will save other tea notions to lace throughout future blogs.

Are you a tea drinker, too? I’d love to hear what your favorite hot drink is.

                                                 Constant Comment awaits....

Hello Vickie: CONGRATULATIONS on your blog! It's wonderful. I know there are many tea drinkers who are going to love even your first post.

I love coffee first but do drink tea as well, ever since I started drinking green tea as an antioxidant. I mix it with raspberry, peach, or any other fruity tea!

Thanks for starting your blog and the very BEST to you. Susan

Thank you so much for your visit to me. I LOVE tea. I start my day with it, and top up my tea levels at intervals (frequent) during the day.
At the moment chai is high on the favourite list - but Assam, green tea, and herbal teas all feature.
I hope you have as much fun in the blogosphere as I do. I have met some WONDERFUL people here.

Hi Susan, Thanks for your visit and reply! I love coffee too, but my tea is first. Green teas are wonderful. Green Matcha with a bit of lemon squeezed into it is refreshing and healthy. Your fruit additions sound delicious.

Thanks too, for your enthusiasm, which nudged me to start this blog! Happy Friday. Vickie

Ha! Another tea fan...I drink it all day too! Went through a long chai phase but Assam is my favorite this time of year and it makes a great iced-drink too.

I am already finding the blogosphere to be a welcoming place....and more tranquil than other online forums. Thanks for visiting and sharing your thoughts! Vickie

Hi Linda - just saw that you commented on my first post! Thanks so much for visiting. We have lots of Earl Gray too....I think I drink it more in the colder months. Do you also post on Tea Cup Tuesday? I will hop around on all the blogs owned by my visitors; it's just been a busy Saturday. Hubby's birthday is the 8th (tomorrow!). Thanks again for warm welcome. :-)

Hi Vickie, and welcome to the world of blogging. Though I have just started a new blog, I've actually been blogging since 2006. I love it, and I have made some wonderful friends by being part of the blog world.

I am currently working on a memoir about my long battle with fertility issues. I'm also working on a family narrative. I love to write.

Tea is very much my beverage of choice---doesn't matter whether it's iced or hot. It's a welcome treat any time of year.

Blessings,
Patti

Hi Patti, Glad you stopped by. Will head over to check your blog next.

I love meeting all you bloggers - anyone who enjoys writing! I wish you well with your memoir writing. I'm putting together a talk about memoir-writing for the library director who requested it after reading my book. Exciting, but a bit scary too!

And a tea-drinker too! Yes, we drink a lot of iced-tea this time of year...what is it about tea?!

Blessings to you also, Patti,

Vickie

Hello Vickie! So nice stopping by to meet you! You will love blogging and the wonderful friends you get to know. I like tea, more in the colder months. Iced tea with mint from the garden with a squeeze of lemon or orange juice is our favorite in the summer. And, just like your grandmother served, I prefer black tea with lots of cream and sugar :)

Looking forward to visiting often!
Kindly, Lorraine

Hello Vickie,
I'm coming over from my friend, Susan's blog. I chose to comment on this post, as tea time is one of the special times of day for me. It is really calming on those hectic days. English breakfast is my favorite. How nice that you had tea parties with your great grandmother from England.

It's nice to meet you, Vickie, and I hope you visit us at Red Rose Alley. I am your newest follower.

Yep, afternoon tea is one thing that helps tether me to a routine....I always seem to know when it's 4 o'clock! (but I drink throughout the day too). See you at your place soon, Put the kettle over!

Hi Lorraine, I'm enjoying blogging way too much, according to my husband's reaction! Tomorrow's his birthday so I won't have much time to visit. Starting next week, I'm going to tour my visitors' blogs more thoroughly. Love your iced-tea recipe! We have some mint, "Kentucky Colonel," in the garden. It's wonderful in iced-tea! I'll have to try it with orange juice. Ha - you like the English style tea! Neat. I never met a tea drinker I didn't like. ;-) Looking forward to getting to know you.

Ahhh... another kindred spirit, as Anne with an 'e' would say.

Thank you SO much for stopping by and leaving a 'footprint' in my comment box.

I look forward to getting to know you better. I enjoy a steaming cuppa tea...coffee in the morning, tea in the afternoon usually.

Here's wishing you glimpses of heaven in unexpected places...
