Fourth of July

Let freedom ring...

How I wish Dad were here to celebrate with us today...as we enjoy the very freedoms for which he risked his life serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Intrepid, back in 1942 and '43. How grateful I am for his steadfast belief in our country's values.

Ah, gratitude! Can't have too much of that, either, Today I am celebrating with neighbors and friends, remembering our loved ones who are no longer with us; and my virtual friends, who may be wondering who won my drawing...

The winner is... (I know it's a bit late in the morning, but it's dark as a dungeon here as it's been raining for hours, which is why my hubby slept in)... Michele, at Finch Rest. Congratulations, Michele!

Michele, Please could you email me at fiberfurnishings@gmail.com to provide your mailing address?

What are you grateful for today?

Just a quick note: our flag flew yesterday in total sunshine...that pic will have to do for today as it is STILL pouring here! Blessings, everyone. Vickie

Happy Independence Day, Vicki!

Congratulations to Michele on winning your giveaway and to you, for winning another book, too!

So sad for all who planned the parade today. It's a downpour, for sure. They are going to be SOAKED.

Hi Susan, Thanks for stopping by...and for your congrats!

Yes, my hearts go out to all those parade goers (and those who make up the parade!). A bit of inconvenience as compared with our Freedom Fighters...guess we all have to offer it up, as my mother would say...

Stay dry,

Vickie

A lovely post Vickie. My thanks to your Dad for his service. On our trip to Europe we attended the 70th D-Day Anniversary in Normandy with my 93 year old father-in-law. It was a very emotional event and it brought home what he and our other wonderful vets, like your Dad, did for us, past and present. My never-ending thanks to all of them. Happy 4th of July!

Happy Fourth of July, Vicki. I know what it means to be thinking of your dear dad, as I lost my dad 25 years ago, and my mom five years ago.

I hope you have a fun day with your family and friends. Me and husband are just having a barbecue and maybe watching the fireworks later.
